Macro Art in Nature is hosting a Self Critique Project for close-up photographs of flora/foliage. The challenge is to pick your best photograph — only one — and critique it. My favorite turned out to be the most recent photo, taken just a couple weeks ago.

Jennifer Maestre’s artwork includes a bunch of spiky, sea-urchin-inspired sculptures made out of actual pencils. She also works with other objects like beads and nails.

Two-minute video. Today I drew another one of my stuffed animals, and this time I noticed a definite improvement in my shading skills! The proportions were way off, though.

Here are a couple interesting videos I found about drawing perfect circles. The first is a demonstration — and you may very well have seen this video already, because it became hugely popular. The second video is an exercise for learning to draw perfect circles, which I’ll be trying the next time my internet dies.
